Ashby de la Zouch is an attractive, historic market town in the centre of the National Forest in North West Leicestershire. The bustling high street hosts independent shops, cafes, pubs and businesses, as well as sites that mark the town’s evolution through the centuries.
Ashby, although a modest-sized town, has pioneered the use of digital placemaking in North West Leicestershire. It has led the way by using the Place Experience Platform to create an app that entices visitors on a journey of discovery, uncovering some of the town’s hidden gems and engaging stories.
The app includes an introductory town trail with facilities and unique features, along with guides themed around Blue Plaques, historic courts and welcoming pubs and restaurants. Visitors are also encouraged to enjoy the healthy green spaces of the area with a tree species trail, echoing Ashby’s location at the centre of the National Forest.
Ashby de la Zouch BID and Ashby de la Zouch Museum aim to expand the trails and seasonal hunts offered within Ashby, and along with partners expand the offer around the district.
